- Manual upload of multiple screenshots
I would like RomM to provide an intuitive file upload control in the game edit interface, allowing users to upload the following type of asset from their local machine:
Game screenshots – support for uploading and managing multiple screenshots per game.
The upload interface should make it easy to add, reorder, and delete screenshots. This would give users full control over the visual presentation of their library without being restricted to auto‑scraped images.
- Metadata locking feature
Currently, a full rescan can overwrite manually adjusted metadata (cover art, game title, description, tags, etc.). To prevent this, I propose a metadata locking mechanism similar to Plex or Jellyfin.
Expected behaviour:
Lock granularity – each field can be locked independently (cover art, screenshots, title, description, tags, publisher, release date, etc.).
Lock indicator – locked fields have a clear visual indicator (e.g., a padlock icon) in the edit interface.
Scan behaviour – when a rescan is performed, locked fields are skipped (their values remain unchanged); only unlocked fields are updated from metadata providers.
Batch operations – ability to bulk lock/unlock specific fields across an entire platform or the whole ROM collection.
Given RomM’s multi‑priority metadata provider system (ScreenScraper, IGDB, etc.), this locking feature is essential to protect the user’s manual work from being accidentally overwritten during automated syncs.
